Post Research Paper Review

I enjoyed this paper more because we had a wide variety of topics that we could talk about and it didn't have to do with my major. When every class pertains to science and math, I like having a class where I can talk about other topics as well. This paper was much more research oriented, and I liked trying to convince readers to look at the topic from my perspective rather than just reporting about what I found from my research, like I did in the first paper.
It was challenging for me to find non-scholarly sources, because there are so many scholarly sources about prison reformation. The topic was always something I was interested in, and I was glad to have an experience to better educate myself on the subject and form an opinion with which I could elaborate on. In an argument based research paper, you get to show multiple perspectives, but ultimately your goal is to get readers on your side of the argument, to convince them that what you believe is right. Whereas for an instructional based research paper, you just want to inform readers and let them form their own opinions.
